01What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?
+
Getting your business into the written answers that Google’s AI, ChatGPT, Claude and other AI tools give when someone asks a question. Your website becomes the place the answer comes from: quoted, named and linked.
02How do you do answer engine optimization?
+
List the questions your buyers ask. See who the answer engines name today. Make sure they’re allowed to read your website. Put a plain answer in the first two lines of each page, with proof under it. Give every service and town its own page. Keep your business facts the same everywhere. Rank those pages on page one of Google, then check the answers every month. The 10 steps above walk through each one.
03What is AEO vs SEO?
+
SEO gets your website onto page one of Google. AEO gets your business into the written answer that sits above or beside those results. It’s built on SEO: Google’s AI answers pull from pages that rank, so ranking on page one is still the core of the work. AEO adds writing those pages so the answer is easy to find and quote. Your rankings now pay off in more places.
04Is AEO the same as generative engine optimization (GEO)?
+
They overlap. AEO is about being the answer to a question. GEO is about getting into the short list of businesses an AI recommends. One plan covers both, and our generative engine optimization page has the detail.
05Is AEO real?
+
Yes. AI answers sit at the top of Google for many searches and in ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, and they name businesses. Getting named is real work with results you can screenshot. It isn’t a separate trick: Google says its AI answers link to pages it already shows in normal results, so the businesses that get named are the ones with clear pages that rank.
06What’s the best AEO tool?
+
For most businesses, a list of your customers’ questions asked in each answer engine once a month, with screenshots saved, plus two free tools: Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which now has an AI Performance report. Paid trackers such as Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit, Ahrefs Brand Radar or Profound help once you’re watching hundreds of questions.
07Which AI tools does this cover?
+
Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. We check the main ones for your questions every month.
08Do I need a special file or code for AI?
+
No. Google says there are no special files, code or extra steps needed to appear in its AI answers. What counts is a page that ranks and answers the question clearly. We still add the standard labels Google reads for normal results, and they always match what the page says.
09Should I let AI tools read my website?
+
If you want to be named in their answers, yes. OpenAI says ChatGPT’s search uses a reader called OAI-SearchBot, and sites that block it won’t be shown in ChatGPT’s search answers. Blocking the readers that collect training data is a separate choice, and doesn’t stop you being shown in search.
10How will I know if AI answers name my business?
+
Every month we ask the same questions again, save every answer, and show you where you’re named, next to your Google rankings.
11How long does it take to work?
+
We guarantee it. If you don’t see visible improvement in your key metrics within the first 20 days, we refund $200 on top of returning your payment for that period. If your qualifying keywords aren’t on the first page of Google within 60 days, we keep working for free until they are.
12Will this change how my website reads?
+
Yes, for the better. Pages open with a plain answer to the question a customer came with, then the proof. People find what they need faster too.
13Do you do other kinds of SEO too?
+
Yes. We’re a full-service SEO agency: organic, national, ecommerce, local and AI search, in one plan.
14Do you work in Canada and the USA?
+
Yes. We work with businesses across both countries. See the cities we work in.
15How much does answer engine optimization cost?
+
Google Maps starts at $1,497 a month. Google rankings start at $2,697 a month. Both go up for multiple locations, multiple websites and complexity. See how pricing works.
